Chris Evans: Virgin Radio Breakfast Show host’s massive Game of Thrones news

The DJ, 52, revealed he had finally started watching Game of Thrones in the lead-up to the eighth and final season of the HBO fantasy epic. The series first aired in 2011 and has become a global phenomenon with avid audiences all over the world. Speaking on his Virgin Radio show, Chris Evans said of himself and his co-star: “We’re the last people ever to say, ‘Oh my god, Game of Thrones is good!’” The Breakfast Show presenter laughed at his delayed realisation.

“I haven’t said it yet, I haven’t seen a second of it,” sport reporter Vassos Alexander chipped in.

“So you would be the last person to say it,” Chris quipped.

“Currently, you’re the last person,” Vassos chuckled.

Chris went on to note Sean Bean was in the episode “a lot”.

“I didn’t even know he was in Game of Thrones,” he admitted, still laughing.

“I wondered why he wasn’t worried about his mortgage for the last decade.

Chris took over at Virgin Radio earlier this year after leaving his post as host of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show after eight years at the helm.

He had spent a total of 13 years working for the BBC.

His former colleague Bob Harris OBE, 72, recently spoke to Express.co.uk about Chris Evans’ departure, saying he was “sad to see him go”.

“Obviously it’s Chris’ choice so it’s up to him what he wants to do,” he continued. “I wish him all the great success in the future.”

Describing the former Radio 2 star as a “free spirit” he added: “I think that’s another thing about his decision to leave Radio 2. Just when you think everything is settled — ‘No, I want a new challenge.’

“That’s always driven him to new challenges all the time. He just drives, making it up as he goes along.

“It’s an incredible thing. The energy around him is amazing,” Bob said.

Chris is a father-of-five, with one grown up daughter, Jade, from his previous relationship with Alison Ward.

He and his wife Natasha Shishmanian have four children together, Noah, 10, Eli, six, and twins Walt and Boo, who were born last year.

Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
