Russell Brand’s sold out Wembley gig to go ahead after rape allegations

Russell Brand denies ‘serious allegations’ of Dispatches investigation

His appearance comes just hours after the comedian denied “criminal” and “serious” allegations in a YouTube video last night which Russell confirmed were put to him by a TV company and a newspaper.

Now the allegations have been published by The Times and Sunday Times ahead of the upcoming Dispatches documentary, where Russell has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse.

The show, at Wembley Park Theatre, is part of his Bipolarisation live tour, which is the 48-year-old’s first nationwide gig in two years.

It is described as: “Rules and rule breaking! Democracy and freedom! We reach conclusions from mass confusion by polling the live audience. We want to hear YOUR opinion.”

Last month, Russell promoted the stand-up show on Instagram, writing: “Come join my live experience.

“I’m talking about my disdain for authority and my belief that decentralized and truly democratic communities are on their way and we’re already part of them!”

The tour comes off the back of the comedian’s four-day Community Festival which he hosts with his wife, Laura Gallacher, 36.

The annual wellness event features yoga and breathwork classes in what is advertised to promote “personal awakening and social change”.

Many of the tickets for the 2024 festival are already sold out, with Adult Weekend tickets costing between £160 and £240. Profits go to his Stay Free Foundation which “supports people through recovery and addiction”.

Russell and Laura got married in 2017 after being introduced 10 years earlier by her sister, former Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher.

They dated for a short time before going their separate ways. He then famously married Katy Perry in 2010 before splitting 14 months later.

Russell and Laura reconnected in 2015 after a chance meeting during a walk in East London.

Reflecting on their romance, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star told Stylist in 2016: “We’ve known each other 11 years; we met when she was 19 and I was 30.

“She fully loves me for what I am. She’s not interested in the famous person at all.”

They welcomed their first daughter, Mabel, in 2016. Their second little girl, Peggy, was born in 2018.

In June this year, Russell confirmed that Laura was pregnant with their third child and due in November.

While appearing on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, Russell said of fatherhood: “It’s taught me there is a lot more important in this world than me.

“It taught me that love is real. It teaches you everything to become a father. All lessons are there.”
