Aldi beats Waitrose, Asda and Morrisons with THESE flowers and they’re a lot cheaper
With spring in full bloom, Channel 5’s Shop Smart: Save Money revealed the best supermarket to purchase flowers from.
They compared bunches of white lilies from Aldi, Asda, Co-Op, Lidl, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.
After reading multiple reviews from displeased customers claiming their flowers died after a couple of days, TV presenter Alexis Conran launched an investigation.
He said: “This got me thinking, which supermarket flowers lasts the longest and which offer the best value for money?”
Alexis enlisted the help of floristry lecturer Sue Lee to closely observe nine bunches of flowers from different shops over the space of a fortnight.
Most of the bunches contained four stems, while Tesco and M&S had five.
The florist firstly prepared the lilies, as directed by the packaging, before storing them in the same room for the two-week period.
Asda’s £4 bunch, fell out first after failing to flower, Sue also said that they began showing signs of age by day two or three.
Morrisons, whose price wasn’t revealed, lasted only seven days, after showing signs of brown flower heads on day three.
“Most people put the flowers in a glass vase, so to keep the water clean they put the bleaching agent in,” she said.
She reassured Alexis, informing him that the bleach doesn’t harm the flowers.
It is not the first time a clever deal has been revealed on the show.
Only last week, the show revealed how to make a traditional roast for four people and with a dessert for less than £20.
