Artem Lobov 'more than confident' Conor McGregor makes UFC return this year and 'would absolutely love' to see Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch
ARTEM LOBOV is “more than confident” his friend and training partner Conor McGregor will make a UFC return this year.
McGregor, 30, has not fought since UFC 229 in October when he was submitted by lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
After the fight, however, both men brawled with their opposing entourages that has seen Nurmagomedov given a nine-month ban and McGregor handed six.
McGregor’s suspension expires next month, and his SBG training partner and close pal Lobov told SunSport he is confident The Notorious will be in the octagon again in 2019.
Lobov said: “I’m more than confident (he returns by this year) he loves this, he doesn’t need to do this.
“Conor is a fighter, this is in his blood and soul – he will never stop training or fighting. This is what he loves to do.
“People talk about the money and this and that, but this is what he truly loves to do. He loves this game.
“Make no mistake about it, if any of the UFC fighters had the money he had, 99 per cent of them would be gone – only a tiny amount of fighters would remain and fight.”
Russian Lobov was present the night his countrymen Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor in four rounds.
And the 32-year-old, who has signed for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after his UFC release, revealed he would “ absolutely love” to see McGregor face Nurmagomedov on his return.
Lobov said: “I’d absolutely love to see the rematch – but to tell the truth, I love watching any of Conor’s fights. Who doesn’t?
“Anyone who tells you they don’t is either a liar or a hater.”
