Bristol Rovers fans 'threw missiles' at van taking Shrewsbury's on-loan Rangers star Greg Docherty to hospital
Then on-loan Rangers man was injured during Shrewsbury Town's 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers.
He lasted less than half-an-hour before he had to be substituted.
Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts claimed that the Town marked vehicle was pelted as it left the Memorial Stadium Docherty suffered blurred vision after he had been hit in the face by the ball.
Ricketts said: "Doch had some bleeding in his eye, he wanted to carry on.
"But as it went on he started to struggle with vision.
"Doch left early to go to the eye hospital.
"I'm a bit disappointed with how the vehicle was treated taking him with objects thrown when they're trying to leave the ground and get to hospital.
"That's disappointing. Hopefully he'll be OK."
Second-bottom Shrewsbury earned a point in a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Rovers.
Shaun Whalley put the Shrews ahead in the first half before Alex Rodman's header spared the home side's blushes.
Shrewsbury had midfielder David Edwards sent off five minutes from time.
