Jose Mourinho to land £24m Man Utd severance payout after being sacked
The Portuguese, 55, has been given his marching orders after guiding the Red Devils to their worst start to the season in 28 years.
On the weekend, SunSport reported that the departing Old Trafford chief would receive the eye-watering sum of £24million if he was to be sacked within 45 days.
The figure is so high as the tactician signed a new contract with the Manchester club in January that would keep him at the club until 2020.
However, United chiefs have decided they cannot continue with the former Chelsea boss.
Mourinho had reportedly lost 90% of the dressing room before their trip to bitter rivals Liverpool on the weekend.
And their dismal performance at Anfield – along with Mourinho's decision to bench key players such as record signing Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, proved to be the final straw.
Mourinho also had a series of meltdowns in charge this season.
His well documented fall out with Paul Pogba – including an infamous training ground bust-up, has led to many of his players losing faith in him.
