Man Utd can land £112m-rated Bale PLUS cash in swap transfer for Pogba
MANCHESTER UNITED will need to fork out a club-record £112million to land Gareth Bale this summer, according to reports.
Or a swap deal including Real target Paul Pogba – with Madrid paying an excess – would almost certainly see a deal pushed over the line.
AS claim Real Madrid are ready to sell the out-of-favour Welshman in order to raise funds for their next Galactico, with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Eden Hazard all linked with a move.
Zinedine Zidane has a frosty relationship with Bale, 29, and earlier this month refused to say whether he would be at the club next season.
United have long been linked with a move for the former Tottenham star and are in the market for a winger this summer.
It is claimed Real know they will likely have to accept less than their £112m asking price but have set an initial bar.
But the Spanish giants, who are planning to flog £430m worth of stars, are confident Bale can still command a hefty fee from English clubs having proven himself in the Premier League with Southampton and Spurs.
Real are desperate to land French World Cup winner Pogba, 26, and would be willing to swap Bale plus cash for the midfielder.
Pogba, who cost United a record £89m from Juventus in 2016, flirted with the idea of a Bernabeu switch in March by claiming playing for Real under Zidane would be a "dream for anyone".
A swap deal between Madrid and Spurs for Christian Eriksen has also been touted.
Bale's £650,000-a-week wages are a huge sticking point though and his agent claims no other club can afford him.
Last month, Jonathan Barnett said: "Gareth loves it there [Madrid]. As for going to another club, no one could afford him."
Bale has won four Champions Leagues, La Liga, the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup in six years at Madrid.
The winger has also scored 102 goals in 227 games.
