Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku in contention to play City after returning to training… but fans don't want him to start
Manchester United have won both games against Bournemouth and Juventus in the Belgian's absence.
After recovering from a muscle injury, Lukaku is back in training and in contention for Sunday's Premier League showdown at the Etihad.
Mourinho said: "Lukaku is training with the team this morning and we have of course one more session tomorrow.
"In this moment I can only say he trains with the team."
But supporters desperately do not want to see Lukaku, 25, return to the team to face the league leaders and their city rivals.
Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial have started both games in Lukaku's absence, with Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard or Juan Mata making up the attack.
Martial and Rashford both scored against Bournemouth while Mata netted a late goal to inspire United's fightback in Turin.
Lukaku is on a nine-game drought with his last United goal coming against Watford in September.
Red Devils legend Paul Ince says Mourinho would be "mad" to bring him back for the derby.
He told Paddy Power: "There are questions around whether Romelu Lukaku will be fit, but even if he is, Mourinho would be absolutely mad to play him.
"The results are plain to see.
"Alexis Sanchez was much improved against Juventus on Wednesday and it’s no coincidence that there was no Lukaku present.
"And in general, when he hasn’t played, United look like a much better team."
