Sandro Tonali spotted on terraces for Newcastle U19s clash against old club AC Milan as Italy star serves 10-month ban | The Sun

SANDRO TONALI was spotted watching Newcastle's U19s 3-1 victory against AC Milan Primavera.

The Newcastle star was hit with a ten-month ban following an investigation into betting breaches.

Tonali received the ban in October and will be side-lined for the rest of the season.

The Italy midfielder moved to Newcastle from AC Milan this summer for £55m.

He was found guilty of illegal betting and will reportedly receive rehab treatment for eight months.

The offences took place while he played for the Italian giants.

Their meeting will decide the fate of both clubs, with both sides level on five points, and capable of qualifying for the knockout stages.

The 23-year-old played 72 minutes during the first leg back in September, which ended in a goalless draw.

A boyhood Milan fan, Tonali joined the Rossoneri first on loan in 2020 before his move was made permanent in 2021.

Tonali will also be forced out of Euro 2024 after Italy were drawn to Group B.

Manager Eddie Howe reiterated support for Tonali amid the fall out.

Howe said: "He's absolutely devastated. The most important part of this whole incident is Sandro and his welfare."
