Daughter of trophy hunter pictured kissing wife over slaughtered lion speaks out

A daughter has disowned her father after a picture of him kissing his wife over a slaughtered lion's carcass went viral.

Sydney Carter, 19, has vowed to never call her father 'dad' again in response to the photograph, which was taken at a 'canned hunt' in South Africa.

Darren Carter, from Canada, was slammed by his daughter for spending £12,000 on the trophy hunting trip, instead of funding her education.

In a YouTube video, Sydney said: "I refuse to call him my dad anymore, who does that?

"I will never understand people like that – who take pride in shooting a beautiful animal like a lion. I’ll never understand it."

Sydney, who has not seen her dad in 10 years, was outraged that her dad forked out thousands for the hunt, despite reportedly cutting off child support after she started university.

The estranged daughter added: “So, Darren, if you’re ever watching this, just know that I don’t call you my dad anymore. You are a horrible person.

“Knowing you trophy hunt beautiful animals like lions, who are slowly becoming endangered, is just… it’s too much.

“I’m someone who loves animals and wouldn’t want anyone to hurt them, and to know that my own father does that – I don’t even consider you my dad anymore."
