Liverpool assistant Peter Krawietz missed the open training session ahead of the Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp’s players were put through their paces at Anfield with the final showdown with Real Madrid now just days away.
Krawietz was a notable absentee as Liverpool stepped up their preparations – but there is nothing for Reds fans to worry about, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Klopp’s assistant has been ill so the decision was taken for him to remain at Melwood and work on the Reds’ plans to beat Real Madrid in Saturday’s showdown in Kiev rather than mix with the players.
Klopp recently lost the services of fellow assistant Zeljko Buvac, who stepped down for the rest of the season due to personal reasons. However, there is no danger of Krawietz missing the final too.
In the absence of Krawietz, who Klopp refers to as ‘The Eye’, head of fitness and conditioning Andreas Kornmayer and first-team fitness coach Conall Murtagh led Monday’s session at Anfield.
Emre Can took a full part in the session as he eyes a return to action in Saturday’s final. The German midfielder has recovered from a back injury and could make the bench in Kiev.
Klopp has no fresh injury concerns with vice-captain James Milner having proved his fitness since missing the final Premier League game against Brighton.
