Ant and Dec shock Simon Cowell as they secretly audition for Britain’s Got Talent

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were reunited for the latest season of Britain’s Got Talent this year and have been going from strength to strength since the comeback.

Having hosted the hit ITV show for over a decade, it seemed the Geordie double act felt it was finally their turn to take a crack at the main stage and secretly audition for the judges.

As well as Stephen Mulhern, the presenter of the BGT spin-off show Britain’s Got More Talent, Ant and Dec dressed up in full dog suits and took to the stage to perform a DJ set.

Unaware that the dog suits were just disguises, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams all watched the act thinking this was the last to judge for the day.

A source told The Sun: “Everyone was spent having watched loads of auditions but Ant and Dec thought it would be a good way to finish things off.”

They added: “The boys and Stephen had dog outfits made especially and performed a DJ set which went down a treat with the crowd despite no one having a clue who they were.”

Thankfully, the judges also loved the sneaky act, as the source explained: “The judges were in stitches when they stripped off at the end.”

The whole performance was captured on cameras which were still rolling at the end of the long day of auditions.

This year’s auditions have already seen some of the most shocking performances yet, including a double act which literally balanced on each other on the tip of a sword, and an escape artist who managed to break free form a straight jacket while on fire.

The BGT gig has been the first time Ant has rejoined Dec after his time away to deal with addiction last year.

Ant was forced to miss his usual post as co-host for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! as well as being unable to finish hosting the final episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway.

Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturdays at 7:30pm on ITV.
