Arsenal legend Ian Wright has warned Tottenham chief Daniel Levy he must splash the cash in order to keep Mauricio Pochettino at the club.
The Argentine hinted he could leave Spurs if he is not given significant funds in the transfer market having led the north Londoners to a third successive term in the Champions League.
Despite being one win away from a third European Cup triumph in a row, Zinedine Zidane’s future at Real Madrid remains up in the air and Pochettino has been linked with the potentially vacant Bernabeu hotseat.
And Wright believes Spurs must do everything in their power to hold on to the former Southampton boss as they head into their new stadium next term.
He wrote in his column in The Sun: "Look at what Tottenham have achieved already. They ripped Real Madrid to shreds at Wembley. They did the same to Liverpool and Manchester United.
"They were great against Juventus, who only played for ten minutes but got through because of their experience. The big-game know-how Spurs will get in time . . . if they gamble.
"They are very, very close but could find themselves slipping agonisingly away again if Levy’s next step is not the right one."
