Aston Villa fans throw cabbage at Steve Bruce during dramatic Preston draw
Aston Villa fans threw a cabbage at Steve Bruce with the beleaguered boss under increasing pressure following a dramatic draw at home to Preston.
The Villans came out with a point after drawing 3-3, despite holding a 2-0 lead at the break after goals by Jonathan Kodjia and Tammy Abraham.
But James Chester saw red nine minutes into the second half, and Daniel Johnson converted the resulting penalty for North End.
Paul Gallagher levelled 11 minutes from time before Louis Moult looked to have snatched a late winner for Preston.
But Yannick Bolasie relieved some of the pressure on his manager by equalising in stoppage time, although Glenn Whelan could have made it even better.
He missed a penalty with the last kick of the game to deny the hosts what would have been all three points.
It’s just one win in 10 for Bruce and Villa and their second successive draw after a 1-1 stalemate with Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Friday night.
Bruce took Villa to within a whisker of the Premier League last term, but they were beaten in the playoff final by Fulham .
A tumultuous summer followed, and just three wins this term leaves them 12th in the Championship, seven points off the top two.
