‘Bachelor’ Peter Weber insists he’s ‘not making dumb decisions on purpose’

“Bachelor” star Peter Weber is well aware of his critics.

“I don’t think I ever expected to have this many opinions about my love life. I knew I was going to go on and be the ‘Bachelor’ and people were going to have opinions, but this is insane,” the 28-year-old pilot told fellow “Bachelor” alum, Nick Viall, on Wednesday’s installment of “The Viall Files” podcast.

Weber, the 24th leading man in franchise history, has narrowed down the 30 women vying for his heart to four, which includes controversial contestant Victoria Fuller, whose Cosmopolitan cover was yanked over her alleged ties to “White Lives Matter” merchandise. As Weber further explained, watching the episodes in real-time has been difficult.

“It’s a lot harder watching this back for me,” Weber said, noting “there was so much information I wasn’t privy to.”

He continued, “I’m making decisions in the moment based off the information I have and I’m not making dumb decisions on purpose, and I know everyone thinks I am or thinks I’m just being indecisive. There’s a lot of indecision, but that’s what you get when you date so many women at once.”

Weber’s behavior struck a nerve with former “Bachelor” Ben Higgins, who recently told Page Six the on-screen drama is spiraling out of control.

“I’ve always said that the mark of a good ‘Bachelorette’ or ‘Bachelor’ is not how likable they are, because the show can make you likable or not, it’s how you respond to conflict and controversy, and so far Peter’s not doing a bad job at it, but he’s not doing a good job either. He’s kinda letting it happen, and that can get really ugly fast,” Higgins said.

Despite a rocky start, Higgins, 31, believes Weber’s journey will end “really well.”

“I think he’s going to finish really strong and I think people are going to love him for that. But this has definitely been a very engaging season,” Higgins shared.

Weber’s remaining candidates include medical sales rep Fuller, 26, model Hannah Ann Sluss, 23, foster parent recruiter Madison Prewett, 23, and professional clothier Kelsey Weier, 28.

“The Bachelor” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
