Love Island’s Camilla Thurlow has opened up about the early stages of motherhood, revealing she “really struggled” to breastfeed her daughter Nell in the first six weeks after her birth.
Camilla, who welcomed Nell with boyfriend Jamie Jewitt back in October, posted a snap on her Instagram account of Jamie feeding their daughter with a bottle, as she wrote a candid post to her followers.
The 31 year old said: “I really struggled with breastfeeding at the start, and so decided the best thing would be to exclusively breastfeed for the first six weeks to work through any challenges.”

Camilla continued: “Those six weeks certainly had their ups and their downs but they gave me the chance to build my confidence and seek the support I needed.”
The new mum then went onto say that although she is still facing some challenges, she’s finding things a lot more manageable now she and Jamie have mastered a routine.
She explained: “There are still times when it is tricky and some days and nights are harder than others, but feeding Nell is so special and it was important to us that @jamiejewitt could be a part of that.”

Continuing to say that it was important to her that partner Jamie was involved in the feeding process, Camilla explained the pair recently celebrated the six week mark since welcoming their new arrival.
“Last week we hit the six week mark and now I express a bottle a day for Jamie to give to Nell – watching him do that has been yet another wonderful part of the feeding journey,” she concluded.
Camilla, who sprung to fame on the 2017 series of Love Island, has documented her motherhood journey for her social media followers.

Just this weekend, she posted a photo of her breastfeeding Nell in the early hours, giving a shout out to other multitasking mums.
Uploading the picture at 2.07am, Camilla wrote: “And we're back in the feeding chair. Sending love to everyone else doing night feeds tonight, I hope you have all the snacks!”
And just a couple of hours later, Camilla was up again for Nell’s scheduled 4.30am feed.
She explained to her followers: “3am is when I do my best online shopping! Truly though, I look very happy in this picture and these moments in the middle of the night are precious ones that I am forever grateful for.
“But I definitely don't want to sugarcoat how challenging I have found breastfeeding so far. Maybe one day I'll talk about my experience with it.”
She concluded by: “But for now I just want to say greatest respect to all the mothers out there figuring out their way to feed their baby, it's a tricky journey and I'm so grateful for the support I've had from the NHS and of course from @jamiejewitt_"
