Cardinal Dolan to attend Met Gala

Timothy Cardinal Dolan plans to attend the star-studded Met Gala on Monday night, according to Archdiocese of New York spokesman Joe Zwilling.

The man of the cloth will likely don the cassock that “he would wear to any formal evening dinner,” Zwilling told The Post on Sunday.

Dolan’s religious garb will fit right in — this year, the charity ball celebrates the opening of the Met Costume Institute’s new exhibit “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” opening May 10.

The exhibit is featuring Catholic-inspired couture alongside actual religious garb from the Vatican and Sistine Chapel Sacristy — including a papal tiara set with 18,000 diamonds that will be flown to New York accompanied by its own bodyguard, according to the New York Times.

The religious and secular pieces will be housed in separate exhibits, with the sacred on show at The Met Fifth Avenue and the couture displayed at the The Met Cloisters.
