Chadwick Boseman’s Tweet Becomes Most-Liked of All Time

The final tweet posted to Chadwick Boseman‘s Twitter is now the most-liked post in history.

Twitter reported the news on Saturday afternoon (August 29) following the shocking news that the 43-year-old Black Panther actor had died of colon cancer the night before.

“Fans are coming together on Twitter to celebrate the life of Chadwick Boseman, and the tweet sent from his account last night is now the most liked tweet of all time on Twitter,” the social media company wrote in a statement via Variety.

Twitter also announced the news on their own Twitter account, reposting the tweet from Chadwick‘s account along with the message, “Most like Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever.”

As of right now, the final tweet has over 5.7 million likes and over 2.9 million retweets.

The record was previously held by President Barack Obama, when he tweeted the Nelson Mandela quote, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.” The tweet was posted in August 2017 following a deadly car attack at a protest against white supremacists in Virginia.

Obama‘s tweet has 4.3 million likes and 1.6 million retweets.
