Cher Debuts New Song At Biden Benefit Concert
Cher showed her support for Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden by releasing a new single, “Happiness Is Just a Thing Called Joe.”
The Grammy-winning singer on Sunday night, October 25, debuted the new song at “I Will Vote,” a Biden benefit concert, ahead of its official release on Monday.
The song was originally composed by Harold Arlen as “Happiness Is a Thing Called Joe” for the 1943 musical film Cabin in the Sky, earning an Oscar nomination for best original song.
Cher, who has publicly criticized President Donald Trump, restyled the song’s lyrics for Biden.
The original lyrics reads: “Sometimes the cabin’s gloomy and the table’s bare / But when he kisses me it’s Christmas everywhere.”
Cher, however, modified the lyrics to, “Right now our country’s gloomy, fear is in the air / But when Joe’s president, hope is everywhere.”
John Legend, Pink and Andra Day also performed at the fundraising concert, in support Biden.
