Nile Rodgers & Chic have released their new album It’s About Time, the group’s first album since 1992’s Chic-ism.
For the new album, Chic have collaborated with Elton John, Craig David, and Lady Gaga, Hailee Steinfeld, Stefflon Don, Emeli Sande, Anderson .Paak, Vic Mensa, and more.
“This is the most self-indulgent album I’ve ever done in my life,” Rodgers shared with Billboard. “I don’t normally make records like this because I don’t have the power to say ‘this is how it’s gonna go and I’m gonna tell this really big story.’ So now that I do, I can do it my way and this is happening my way exactly. And I just hope people get it and like it and understand it. It’s a geeky record, and a very idealistic record.”
The second part of It’s About Time will be released next February. The band had earlier released singles “Sober,” featuring Craig David and Stefflon Don, “Til the World Falls” and “Boogie All Night.”
The band have also announced plans for a UK arena tour, which launches in Glasgow on December 13, in support of their new album.
