Chris Cornell’s Widow Sues His Doctor

Chris Cornell‘s widow has filed a lawsuit against his doctor for malpractice. She has accused the doctor of over-prescribing drugs which led to the singer’s suicide.

According to TMZ, Vicky Cornell is suing Dr. Robert Koblin for malpractice, claiming the doctor prescribed 940 doses of the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam aka Ativan as well as Oxycodone during the last 20 months of his life. Vicky claims that the doctor prescribed those drugs without even examining the Soundgarden singer.

The suit alleges that Cornell was a known “addiction-prone individual,” yet the doctor took no steps to protect him. Dr. Koblin knew that Cornell was an addict as the singer was referred to the doctor by his therapist.

The lawsuit alleges that use of excessive amounts of Lorazepam increases the risk of suicide in addiction-prone individuals as it impairs judgment and rational thinking and also diminishes impulse control.

Vicky and her two children are suing for unspecified damages.

Cornell passed away in May, 2017 in an apparent suicide. His fourth and final solo studio album, Higher Truth, was released in September 2015.
