Former “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actress Diane Neal sensationally called Mariska Hargitay a “total bitch” — and said her co-stars were “awful people,” according to new court documents.
Neal, who played Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak on “SVU”, said the only pleasant person on the set of the long-running NBC crime drama was Ice T, the lawsuit claims.
The actress-turned-Congress hopeful allegedly made the comments to her former campaign manager Rachael Himsel, who wrote them down in an email to an unnamed source.
This email is an exhibit in a lawsuit by Neal’s ex-boyfriend, magician JB Benn, who is hitting back at Neal’s claims that he physically and sexually abused her.
Neal strenuously denied making the comments about her “SVU” castmates to Page Six, saying: “There is no truth to this at all. Most of the people I’ve worked with are amazing, I love almost everyone I’ve ever worked with.”
Speaking about Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson for the past 21 seasons, she said: “Mariska and I were not the closest, but that doesn’t mean we have any animosity towards each other, we’re still very supportive of each other. She’s a great mom, she’s great as Benson, she’s doing great charity work. I have never talked about the cast members like this, it’s salacious and untrue.”
In court documents seen by Page Six, Benn said he actually taped Neal threatening to shoot him and hang their dog Charlie on Nov. 7, 2017.
The documents state that Benn often taped her “partially because he (rightfully) feared that Ms. Neal would eventually blame him for any misfortune or issue in the parties’ relationship, often made audio recordings of his interactions with her.”
In the tape, Neal allegedly told Benn: “I am going to kill you or I am going to sue the f–k out of you. I am going to make your life as miserable as you have made mine. The difference is, unlike me you have nothing to lose.
“Because your life is this big. You have no friends. You have no family. You don’t have anything to lose. Nobody loves you. Me, I have already f–king lost everything. I now have nothing to lose and I am going to take you down with me. Prick. That’s what you get for being a horrible, horrible person. That’s really what you are. You are a horrible person. What’s your cell phone password again? Oh … well done. Well done JB, you’re so smart. You’re so good. You’re so open and friendly. Just fun. You’re a f–king prick. I f–king hate you. Leave! Yeah! You know what? I am going to f–king murder Charlie in front of you! I am going to kill him in front of you. Charlie, I’m going to kill you. I’m going to shoot you in the head in front of your daddy so your brains go all over him. Maybe, just maybe, then you can elicit some sort of f–king emotion from this f–king android.”
In another moment in March 2018, Benn accuses Neal of yelling: “You are the least fun person I have ever met. You don’t think it’s about connections because you refuse to be connected with anybody. Even me! Which is why I am going to punish you with death and kill your f–king dog.”
This all comes on the heels of Neal’s own lawsuit, filed last week, in which she claims that Benn swindled her out of millions, and allegedly abused her physically and emotionally.
Neal and Benn met in December 2013 at Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s annual Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest fundraiser.
They were together until last year and she claims that Benn pushed her out of a $529,900 home she in part paid for. However, he denies this.
Neal unsuccessfully ran as an independent candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 19th congressional district.
And her manager Himsel wrote of fears for Neal’s mental health, saying in a filed exhibit: “Ms. Neal used Mr. Benn as an emotional punching bag. She called JB a retard. Repeatedly. She told him ‘I’m gonna kill you!’ repeatedly. She told me, ‘I just want to kill him sometimes. And once when I said something like, ‘Oh you shouldn’t joke like that,’ she actually said, ‘I’m not kidding. I want to f–king kill him.’”
Himsel allegedly added that within days of working for Neal: “I learned that not only was JB a retard, her sister was a c–t and her mother molested her. She also told me she tried to hang herself when she was 8 years old. Once when she handed me her computer to do work on it, I saw on the desktop that she had a file called ‘I tried to hang myself when I was 8 years old.’ I also learned that all of her co-stars on ‘Law & Order’ were ‘awful people’ — except Ice-T — and Mariska Hargitay was a total bitch. She said that *everyone* in the industry was awful, stupid, unkind. She said there were only three ‘good’ people in the entire industry. She said Robin Williams was one of them. I don’t know who the other two are…”
Neal said she sacked Himsel after two weeks of working with her.
Speaking of Benn, she said she first reported allegations of abuse to Ulster Sheriff’s Department and Ulster District Attorney near the home she shared with Benn in New York last year.
“He has taken almost all of my work, my friends, my money he’s interfered in my life, deprived me of work, contacts and friends — no more,” she said. It breaks my heart to listen to the audiotape. It’s not nice, it’s not kind, it’s not rational — but the day that tape was made, I had been abused all day. He was kicking me, the amount of harm he caused me was epic.”
“My concern is that I don’t want anyone to suffer as I did,” she said echoing abuse claims she made as part of her lawsuit. “I was [Benn’s] mark from the beginning.”
She said she is now focused on making a return to acting, a profession that she succeeded in.
NBC was unavailable for comment.
