It was only a matter of time before Meghan Markle-inspired wedding gowns started to roll in, and the “M. Markle” gown by Floravere hit it out of the park.
Floravere is a bridal brand that offers a unique shopping experience. It has no brick-and-mortar shops. Instead, sample dresses are sent to your home, tailored, and sent back to the company to be perfected for your big day. Brides work with stylists to get the measurements exactly right, and the custom finished gown is shipped back in three to four months. It’s like Say Yes to the Dress without all those terrifying 360 mirrors and randos staring at you. Best of all, because it cuts out the middleman, patrons can snag luxe dresses at lower prices. Markle’s Givenchy wedding dress cost a cool $500,000, but Floravere’s equally stunning “M. Markle” dress costs only $1,475.
“Inspired by Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, we incorporated signature elements of her look but translated the design to be uber wearable for those of us who are royalty in spirit, if not on paper,” the brand explains on its site. According to the company, the gown features “double-faced matte satin specially sourced from Japan” with “hand sewn bridal buttons down the back.” The dress also has that signature off-the-shoulder look that Markle wore so well at the royal wedding. But unlike the original gown, which featured three-quarter length sleeves, Floravere’s has short cap sleeves — it’s the perfect Duchess-inspired look without the knockoff vibe.
Oh, and in case you’re still wondering whether or not you need this dress in your life, it comes in an inclusive range of sizes, from 0 to 24 plus.
After the royal wedding, which took place May 19, Floravere hinted they were cookin’ up something similar.
“Then [Meghan Markle] came along, just so cool and chic and smart and OUR KIND OF BRIDE. Here we are, obsessing over your dress. Modern yet timeless, with a touch of Imma Do My Own Thing,” the brand wrote in an Instagram caption. “We’re so inspired that we’re working on an M. Markle dress and we CAN’T WAIT to unveil it soon.”
Interestingly, a fan commented that she hoped they’d make a dress without sleeves, and Floravere took the advice to heart. It’s the royal wedding dress of your dreams, but without the ultra-conservative touches. We’re also impressed by how quickly Floravere pulled off this design — the wedding was only a week ago! The brand does note on the dress listing that these gowns will go fast, so if looking like an actual princess at your fairy-tale wedding is a priority, hop on over quick.
On a related note, scrolling through the rest of Floravere’s bridal offerings is a beautiful ride. All their dresses are named after famous women, and they’re a far cry from the cookie-cutter dresses you’d find at your local wedding dress boutique.
Our only question is, when will they make a dupe of Markle’s stunning Stella McCartney reception dress?
