Arsenal fans were left praising Diego Costa during their side’s Europa League semi-final defeat to Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.
Normally on the end of negative comments from Gunners supporters, the Spaniard was applauded for the role he played in helping Laurent Koscielny.
The Frenchman went down off the ball after just 12 minutes, and was spotted pounding the turf in agony.
Costa, who could have been through on goal, immediately waved his arms in the air and instructed for his team to put the ball out.
The defender was taken off on a stretcher with a torn Achilles and his World Cup hopes in tatters.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to praise the striker.
One fan tweeted: "Fair play to Costa made them kick the ball out and making sure Kos was OK!!"
Another supported added: "I can’t stand Diego Costa, but his reaction to Koscielny’s injury was top drawer. Like Di Canio catching the ball."
A third posted: "Fair play to Costa there. Signaling straight away for treatment go Koscielny."
Costa went on to deliver the final blow as his goal shortly before half-time secured Atletico’s win on the night.
