Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter is no stranger when it comes to airing what is really on her mind. The broadcaster has now hit out against the government’s U-turn decision to introduce vaccine passports.

Does he really think that an official piece of paper or app stating the holder has had two jabs won’t be forged, hacked, corrupted and worthless within two minutes of being introduced?

On Monday, the Prime Minister announced that from September, those hoping to visit nightclubs and attend large scale gatherings must provide proof that they have been double vaccinated.

During a press conference, Boris Johnson said: “I would like to remind everybody that some of life’s most important pleasures and opportunities are likely to be increasingly dependant on vaccinations.

“There are already countries that require you to be double jabbed as a condition of quarantine-free travel.”

He added went on to add that nightclubs are said to be linked to the rising numbers of Covid cases: “I don’t want to have to close nightclubs again but it does mean nightclubs need to do the socially responsible thing and make use of the NHS covid pass. The pass which shows proof of vaccination, recent negative test or natural immunity as a means of entry.”

However, outspoken Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter, 74, has slammed the “worthless” passport.

Writing in her Daily Mail column, the fiery redhead said: ” Last year, Boris trashed Covid passports as unnecessary and intrusive, now, they’re being touted as the latest weapon in the ongoing fight to control a disease that will never be eradicated!

“Unless young people are doubled-jabbed by the end of September, they can forget about going anywhere.”

She added: “Does he really think that an official piece of paper or app stating the holder has had two jabs won’t be forged, hacked, corrupted and worthless within two minutes of being introduced?”

Following a shortage of police officers across England, Janet continued: “And where are the beady-eyed workers who will police this astonishing new document granting our freedom to party?

“The hospitality industry can’t get staff to clean toilets, let alone monitor the vaccine status of who’s passing through the door.”

The Brentford-born former newspaper editor went on to say: “Border staff can’t deal with traffic at Heathrow, which is operating at 90 per cent below normal capacity.

“So, who is going to be the Covid Passport police?”

Janet claims that Boris’ “dithering” and “consistent U-turns” have turned Brits into “fearful, compliant bots”.

She likened the rules implemented by the cabinet as that of religious cults “bombard people with messages day in and day out until they are utterly confused and agreeable to anything.”

The outspoken media personality claimed that “Boris has revealed what a bully he is” in her scathing attack.

Statistics show that 35 per cent of young people have not received their vaccination, while around 65 per cent have had their first dosage.

During his broadcast to the nation, Mr Johnson reiterated the Government has reserved the right to introduce stricter mandates for the goal of lowering transmission.

He said: “As we said last week, we do reserve the right to mandate certification at any point if it is necessary to reduce transmission.

“I should serve notice now, by the end of September, when all over 18s will have had their chance to be double jabbed, we are planning to make full vaccination the condition of entry to nightclubs and other venues where large clubs gather.

“Proof of a negative test will no longer be enough, let me stress, we want people to take back their freedoms as they can today.”
