Gareth Southgate has drafted Leicester pair Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray into his senior squad for the Switzerland friendly at the King Power Stadium.
England under-21s duo Chilwell and Gray did not travel to Latvia with Aidy Boothroyd’s squad as they have made the step up with Southgate facing injury problems.
Luke Shaw is staying with the squad despite his sickening head injury against Spain with the Manchester United full back likely to be ruled out for the statutory ten days after suffering concussion.
But England’s medical staff are confident that Shaw has not suffered any serious long term damage but he will have to be cleared by specialists before returning to training.
His club team mate Marcus Rashford also got a knock against Spain which explains Gray’s call-up with England short of options especially with Raheem Sterling having already pulled out.
Southgate confirmed after the Spain defeat that he would bring players in from the under-21s rather than make fresh call-ups .
However, the England boss has resisted bringing in Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke.
