Gwyneth Paltrow Launches Countersuit Against Alleged Victim of Utah Ski Accident

AceShowbizGwyneth Paltrow is firing back at legal claims she was responsible for a fellow skier’s injuries on the slopes in Utah by filing her own countersuit.

Terry Sanderson is suing the “Shakespeare in Love” star for allegedly crashing into him while he was skiing at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City in February 2016. In the lawsuit, Sanderson’s lawyers described the alleged incident as “a hit-and-run ski crash,” claiming the Goop founder “skied out of control” and hit their client in the back before skiing away, leaving the plaintiff stunned, lying in the snow, seriously injured.”

The doctor, who is seeking damages in excess of $3.1 million (£2.4 million), claims he suffered injuries including a “permanent traumatic brain injury,” four broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and disfigurement.

“Gwyneth Paltrow knew it was wrong to slam into Dr. Sanderson’s back, knocking him down, landing on top of him, and then leave the scene of the ski crash she caused, but she did it anyway,” the lawsuit reads.

The actress quickly hit back at the lawsuit, insisting it was without merit.

“This lawsuit is completely without merit. Anyone who reads the facts will realise that,” her statement to People magazine read.

According to TMZ, Paltrow has now launched a countersuit against Sanderson, alleging she is the victim in the accident and that he “took her out from behind.” Gwyneth also claims Sanderson is quoted in a report as saying she appeared “right in front of him,” admitting “he was the uphill skier” and she had right of way on the slopes.

The 46-year-old is suing for $1 and will donate any additional award to charity.
