Inbetweeners star James Buckley almost died filming infamous episode

Inbetweeners star James Buckley almost died during filming of the show’s infamous Field Trip episode.

The actor, 31, revealed the sitcom almost ended in tragedy as he filmed scenes in which his sex pest character Jay Cartwright was stranded in a boat.

James was working with co-stars Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas and Simon Bird as he tried to follow producers’ instructions on how to use a flare gun.

He got the wrong end of the stick and almost let it off in his face.

According to The Sun, Blake said: "He genuinely could have died.

“He looked down the barrel of it before it goes off and we were told don’t ever do that…

"So when James does that and half a second later it comes out, that’s how close we were to recasting.”

Speaking on Channel 4’s The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited special, David went on to reveal he nearly froze while filming the classic Caravan Club episode.

He had to shoot all day in a freezing cold campsite washroom.

He said: "I had to get half-naked, it was freezing cold and I had to p*** and fart though the whole scene while my c**k was shrivelled to the size of an acorn.

"It was so cold I had a car crash on the way home because I went hot, cold, hot, cold and I fell asleep at the wheel."
