Jake Paul Says He ‘Misspoke’ After Claiming He Has ‘Early Signs’ of CTE
Jake Paul is correcting himself.
The 24-year-old YouTuber and boxer now says he “misspoke” about an alleged early diagnosis of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
During a media day earlier in the week ahead of his fight with Ben Askren over the weekend, he said he had “early signs” of CTE.
“It’s a dangerous sport. That’s why when people question my dedication to it, I’m showing up every single day, I’m putting my mental health on the line, my brain is on the line. I’ve gone and gotten brain scans and have early signs of CTE, but I love this sport and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else…I’m a fighter and people will see that. Whether it’s after Saturday night or a year from now. They will see that I’m a fighter,” he said at the time.

On Friday (April 16), he said he “misspoke.”
“I wanna retract my comments made about CTE as it relates to me and my medical history. It’s a very serious condition that I should not have misspoken about.”
His initial comments garnered much skepticism online as it is not possible to prove CTE in living humans, only after death.
He recently reacted to allegations of sexual assault from a social media star.
