Jane McDonald, 58, has revealed she thought she was going to “die” while filming a segment for her series Cruising in Florida’s Everglades. The Loose Women star admitted being terrified when she got on board an airboat that can reach speeds of up to 135mph in the vast swampland.

Opening up on her quick stop in the Everglades, Jane told OK! Magazine: “They don’t half put their foot down.

“You’re off and you’re thinking, ‘I’m going to die!’ But you don’t, obviously.

“There are 200,000 alligators living there, and it’s half the size of Yorkshire!”

Everglades National Park is a 1.5-million-acre wetlands preserve on the southern tip of the US state of Florida.

Often compared to a grassy, slow-moving river, the Everglades is made up of coastal mangroves, sawgrass marshes and pine flatwoods that are home to hundreds of animal species.

Among the Everglades’ abundant wildlife are the endangered leatherback turtle, Florida panther, and West Indian manatee.

Cruising with Jane McDonald returns to Channel 5 this Sunday and marks the star’s final series of the show.

It comes just six weeks after the death of her fiancé Eddie Rothe.

Eddie died after a short battle with lung cancer on March 26,

The songstress spoke out on her heartbreak over on Instagram last week following a prolonged break on the social media platform.

Jane thanked fans for all their “wonderful cards and messages” since the “awful news” of Eddie’s death.

She typed: “I want to thank everyone most sincerely for the wonderful cards and messages of support that I have received since the awful news was announced that I had lost my beloved Ed.
