Jane McDonald, 56, was left in hysterics after she realised that her new dress she’d had made for her on land for her big night aboard the cruise ship, didn’t look how she thought it would. Having sent it to be pressed during the day, she was full of excitement for its first debut but it didn’t go to plan.

I’m going to go up in flames!

During the first episode of her new Channel 5 series Cruising Asia, Jane set off to experience Vietnam and Cambodia from the Mekong river.

Bursting open her cabin door, she giggled: “An excuse at last to wear my frock!” she beamed.

“I do have slight problem because I sent this to get pressed this afternoon and it’s come back and it’s clinging to me!”

The singer proceeded to walk down the corridor where she twirled for the camera crew.

“See what I mean?” she said, while trying to get a good look at her behind.

“It’s following me!”

The stunning dress appeared to be white satin, featuring a high neck collar and front panel splits, which when open, revealed a striking yellow under garment.

She paired it with a large pearl necklace and dainty white sandal heels.

Still flapping about, Jane couldn’t stop laughing: “I’m going to go up in flames,” she hooted, tussling the material left, right and centre to give it some volume.

“Don’t come too near but it’s very glamorous isn’t it, makes you stand right,” she gushed, clearly not to phased about the slight problem with the limp material.

While her journey has just begun on the broadcaster, she broke the news to her fans of her self-titled travel shows earlier this year that she would be giving up travelling the world to focus on her music in the UK instead.

She announced she would be quitting her hit program after more than four-and-a-half years.

Her cruising shows have been a regular on our TV screens since 2017, that have seen the former Loose Women panellist visit many places across the world.

The opportunity has seen her travel on 38 cruise ships and take more than 100 flights but she felt it was time to explore her options.

The former cruise ship entertainer wrote on her blog: “Thank you so much for your lovely comments and messages. I have been very humbled by the response and deeply touched. Please don’t think I’m putting my feet up for a rest. My year is packed full of wonderful things.

“I’m especially looking forward to being back on the road with my new Tour ‘Let the light in’, which begins in June. I can’t wait to see my amazing fans. I’m also looking forward to my first chartered cruise in September on the ‘Anthem of the Seas’.”

But she made it clear she wouldn’t be stepping away from the lime-light anytime soon and has plans to release another album and more TV projects are in the works.

More recently, she had to break some more bad news to her fans as she has had to cancel a tour date in Gateshead after her team couldn’t to “find a suitable date” to reschedule.

It comes after she had to post-pone her Let Light The Light In Tour until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cruising with Jane McDonald airs tonight on Channel 5 at 7.30pm.
