Jessica Simpson has spoken out on going sober four years ago after finding herself feeling "exhausted" and dealing with an "internal battle".
The 41 year old, who recently showed off her 100-pound weight loss after overhauling her diet and fitness, took to her Instagram feed to post a snap of herself looking unrecognisable on 1 November 2017.
The photo sees the blonde beauty dressed in a pink tracksuit with white stripes while appearing pale in the face as she looks off to the side of a dark room she sits in.
In the caption, she bravely opened up to her 5.6 million followers on facing her fears and going sober after realising she didn't love herself or respect her "own power".
"This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself," she started. "I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore."
Speaking on the instant she decided to turn things around, she continued: "I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.
"Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor.
"I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world."
Jessica, who was previously mum-shamed after sharing a snap of her daughter Maxwell's dyed hair, went on to discuss the way alcoholics are viewed and the stigma attached to people who have an addiction to alcohol.
She said: "I can’t believe it has been 4yrs! It feels like maybe 2. I think that is a good thing. Ha. There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic.

"The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage."
The With You hitmaker admitted that drinking alcohol wasn't the route problem in reality as she shared: "The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power.
"Today I do. I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free."
Many of her fans were quick to comment on her honesty as one person wrote: "Thank you for sharing your story! It helped me overcome my demons too, I’ve been sober for 1.5 years now".
