Joe Swash skated his way to victory earlier this year as he won the 2020 series of Dancing on Ice. Back in September, the 2021 line up was announced which included Denise Van Outen and Jason Donavan as well as many other familiar faces. But what advice does Joe have for the line-up?

Since winning the show earlier this year, Joe spoke to on how he is jealous of the 2021 cast as they go into training.

Talking of Dancing on Ice line up, he gushed: “The line up looks amazing, its such a good line up.

“I’m excited [to watch it], but I’m also jealous as well because I know the stages they’re going through like at the moment when they’re learning to ice skate.

“Even when I was doing it at that point at that stage, it felt like the hardest thing in the world.

“But when you look back on it, you think ah it was so much fun, so I wish them all the best of luck.”

“The only advice I would give them is just try to enjoy it, don’t get caught up in it just enjoy it for you.

“The cast, the crew, they’re incredible, so I’m extremely jealous that I’m not doing it.”

Joe went on to talk of how his son motivated him to want to do well on the show.

He explained: “My eldest boy, he’s 13 and Stacey’s oldest is 12 so when I started the show I just though in my head it would be a great example to the kids to say them look I’m going to try my hardest, I’m going to put all the work in but who knows what will happen.

“I thought it would be a great little thing for the kids to see, but I’m the sort of person that when I do something, I will just do it.

“I love learning and putting myself in situations where I’m under stress or its a little bit dangerous so I really enjoyed it and I really thrived in the situation.”

The Dancing on Ice champion went on to say that he surprised himself at how far he had come within the competition.

“So I was as surprised as everyone else when it all came together.”

Joe has since looked back on his experience on the show and how he “enjoyed” his journey.

He said: “It was a really positive experience, and even if I didn’t win, it would have still been a positive experience because I just enjoyed myself.”
