Kris Jenner Never Did This Common Household Task Before Her Divorce From Robert Kardashian Sr.

Kris Jenner is a jack of all trades.

Not only is she a mother, television personality, and producer, but the famed momager is also a savvy businesswoman who knows the ins and outs of financial planning as well as money management.

While you would think Jenner has always been well-versed in these areas, it turns out that she hasn’t always been knowledgeable when it comes to money. In fact, before splitting from her first husband, Robert Kardashian Sr., the famed momager admits that she was clueless about finances and didn’t know how to do one household task until after their divorce.

Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian Sr. were married for 13 years

Jenner first met Kardashian Sr. when she was 17-years-old and married him six years later in 1978.

The pair went on to have four (very famous) children together: Kourtney (born 1979), Kim (born 1980), Khloé (born 1984), and son Rob (born 1987).

Unfortunately, after more than a decade of marriage, Jenner and Kardashian divorced in March 1991 but remained friends until his death in 2003.

Years later, Jenner confessed that she had an affair with former soccer playerTodd Waterman during her marriage to Kardashian. The mother of six called the relationship one of the “biggest regrets” of her life, mostly because of the negative impact it had on her marriage and her children.

Kris Jenner never paid a bill until after her divorce from Robert Kardashian Sr.

In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Jenner opened up about her divorce from Kardashian Sr.

According to the momager, she was clueless about finances while married to her first husband. So when they divorced, she did not know how to manage her money or do common household tasks like pay a bill.

“One day, my friend Shelli Azoff said to me when I was going through my divorce [from Robert], ‘How much is your gardener?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know.’ And she said, ‘You don’t know?’” Jenner recalled. “That was the turning point for me: I was embarrassed that I didn’t know.”

She continued, “I woke up one day to responsibilities that I hadn’t had the day before. And I needed to figure it out. And the good news is, I pay attention… I’m a quick study and I knew I had to get it together.”

Kris Jenner’s embarrassment turned into empowerment

It wasn’t long after her divorce that Jenner took matters into her own hands and learned how to manage her finances. Eventually, the momager’s embarrassment over not knowing how to pay a bill went away and was replaced with empowerment.

“I felt such an enormous sense of accomplishment to be able to figure it all out and pay my own bills and make my own money and do my own taxes,” she told the outlet. “And there were times when I didn’t have a lot of money, but I was very organized.”

As the years went by, Jenner learned more about finances and money management. Along the way, she helped build up her family’s massive empire and now has a multimillion-dollar net worth, which has only continued to grow.

“I’m interested in different ways that people make money — and in what’s happening around the world,” she explained to WSJ. Magazine. “And I’m interested in different businesses and how they evolve and how they become successful… I just enjoy the business world.”
