Legendary Guitarist Ed King Dies At 68 After Battle With Cancer

Legendary Nashville guitarist, Ed King, has died, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Known for being a co-writer for hit song “Sweet Home Alabama,” the musician battled various diseases in his final years.

While he was a member of the band Strawberry Alaarm Clock and Lynyrd Skynyrd, he had to leave the latter after his ailments got to be too much.

In 1996, King, 68, suffered from congestive heart failure, and in 2011 had to undergo a heart transplant. It wasn’t until earlier this year, however, that he began battling cancer.

This Thursday, after months of hoping for his miraculous recovery, King’s family announced his death.

RIP Ed King.
