All the Louis the royal baby probably isn’t named after

After a long and arduous four-day wait, Prince William and Kate have finally given their people what they want and revealed the royal baby name.

Their second son has been given the rather regal moniker of Prince Louis Arthur Charles, and the name kicks out slightly more European vibes than those of their daughter Charlotte, two, and four-year-old son George.

And X Factor judge Louis Walsh reckons the name has star quality written all over it.

“He looks like a pop star, he sounds like a pop star, and with a name like Louis he’s definitely going to be a royal pop star," the X Factor veteran told Mirror Online.

But while the exhausted third-time parents are yet to reveal what inspired the choice, it’s safe to say that the OG Louis – and a host of other Louis – had nothing to do with the thought process…

Louis Walsh

There’s no doubt the X Factor judge would have LOVED to have been the inspo behind the choice.

He’s a big fan of Prince William and was all over it when The Duke of Cambridge surprised guests at a Kensington Palace charity event by performing Bon Jovi’s 1980s hit Livin’ on a Prayer.

“He has star quality," Louis told the Mirror.

“He has certainly got the X Factor. I would have him at my judges’ houses any time – I think he should definitely audition for the show.”

Louis Theroux

Who wouldn’t name their baby after the geeky legend, right?

The only thing stopping Wills and Kate taking inspo from the cult journo is the fact they have to pick something from the royal vaults.

Sadly, Louis was filming in the US and unavailable to comment on the happy news.

Louis Vuitton

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were rumoured to be considering ‘Louis’ for their daughter after she started spamming social media with pictures of goodies featuring the designer logo.

However, she eventually went with Chicago and we’ll bet our last Rolo that Wills and Kate weren’t waiting with baited breath to steal the cast off from the reality royals.

Louis Tomlinson

There’s one reason that Louis can’t have been the inspiration, and that’s because he’s not really Louis!

He was given the catchy name by Simon Cowell at the X Factor audition stage because it sounded more hip that his real name, which is Lewis.

Louis Armstrong

The royal family is known for its love of jazz. The Queen’s dad, the late George V invited Louis Armstrong to the palace numerous times throughout his reign.

So it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the late crooner could have had some influence. However, in truth the name is more likely a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh’s uncle and the last British Viceroy of India before independence in 1947.

Mountbatten and William’s father Prince Charles were very close.

He was known by the Royal Family as Uncle Dickie and was assassinated by the IRA in August 1979, three years before William was born.

King Louie

He’s fifth in line to the throne so while he might never wear the crown, little Louis can still be the King of the Swingers like The Jungle Book’s King Louie.

The orangutan didn’t feature in the original Rudyard Kipling book but was introduced by Disney as an all-singing, all-dancing extra for the animated film.

It’s certainly a nickname we can see him being given at school!
