Taking to Twitter, Geraint shared the first images of is official merchandise bearing his podcast branding, writing: “It’s finally here!! The @gtcc_ official jersey ft @CastelliCycling.

“Which colour do you prefer??” he asked before adding: “AND, there’s a new episode of the pod out for you too with @louiseminchin.”

It wast long before the BBC star wrote back, where she admitted to fans she wasn’t very prompt with her timings, unlike usual.

“What a privilege to chat to the one and only @GeraintThomas86,” she began.

“Thanks so much for inviting me on the pod, and sorry for being late,” before revealing her favourite cycling get-up was the blue option over the grey.

After Louise arrived and they began the podcast, Geraint introduced the presenter to the show but she recommended he be “more himself” and a “little more relaxed”.

“Although you look very relaxed to be honest with you…” she trailed off as the sportsman chuckled to himself.

“Yeah, I’m lying down in my bed, aren’t I,” he replied.

“As I said, this is where the magic happens Lou.”

The 52-year-old appeared to not know how to respond, as she stammered: “Well yeah…”

Having realised how that may have come across, Geraint quickly corrected himself: “Pod!”

“Pod magic!” he exclaimed as Louise burst out laughing.

“I’m glad you’ve clarified that!” she squealed.

Moving past the awkward exchange, the cyclist admitted the intro took it out of him as he noted that being a professional athlete is “a lot easier” than being a presenter.

Louise seemed taken aback, saying: “Do you think so?

“I think it’s quite a lot harder to ride fast than it is to do my job.”

She continued: “Lots of people assume it is just reading out loud but when you actually try to do it, it can be off putting can’t it!”

Geraint shrugged as he said: “I go back to my year eight English classroom and freeze up.

“Cold sweats and everything! But we got there,” he beamed.
