Shaughna Phillips has posted a sweet tribute to her late dad on her Instagram page and opened up about the grief she deals with every day since losing her father to cancer.

Shaughna, who became famous for her appearance on Winter Love Island earlier this year, shared a photo of herself as a little girl with her father.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “4 years ago I gave you one last kiss, laid my eyes on you one last time, and held your hand for one last moment. But that was in no way the last time I spoke to you, because I talk to you every single day

“My heart still aches for you like it did 4 years ago, I don’t even know how I’ve gone so long without your physical presence?! But the bond you have with your parent is sooooo much deeper than just a physical one, and I have no doubt that you’ve been guiding me along the way, and helping me through every obstacle I face.”

The star then went on to explain that she will be on TV this evening, as part of the show Real Full Monty on Ice, to talk about her experience in losing her dad to cancer.

Shaughna wrote: “By some very strange turn of events, I have found myself in this new line of work, entertainment! (I know, I’ve even blagged my way on to the telly), but tonight, on the 4th anniversary of your passing, I will be on ITV doing my best to raise awareness for detecting cancer early, checking yourself regularly, going to see your doctor for an MOT just because, and if I am able to stop just one daughter from losing their dad, and feeling the pain that I have to live with every day, then I will go to bed with a smile on my face.

“I love you SO much dad, as I tell you every day. 22 years wasn’t enough, but I’m grateful for every second of them. You are truly the greatest dad I could have ever been blessed with [heart emoji] E.P [heart emoji}”

Shaughna is appearing on Real Full Monty on Ice alongside stars including Chris Hughes and Jake Quickenden. Recently, she revealed a horrific moment during training when blood poured down her legs due to recent liposuction surgery.

The star, 26, revealed she had liposuction on her lower legs back in September after being diagnosed with lipoedema. According to the NHS, lipoedema is a chronic condition where there's an abnormal build-up of fat cells in the legs, thighs and buttocks, and sometimes in the arms.

She explained: "The first day of training I couldn't get my foot into my boot," she explained. "There was blood pouring down my laces. I was in so much pain.”

Shaughna's father Eddie died from cancer in December 2016 after a gruelling 18-month battle, which has motivated the former Love Island star to continue despite the pain.
