Love Island’s Sherif Lanre in shock death hoax after vile online post claims he ‘died in a fire’

Love Island’s Sherif Lanre has fallen victim to a death hoax, after his Instagram page was flooded with messages of condolence.

The TV star, who was booted from the villa last month, sparked rumours that he had passed away in a fire.

The 20-year-old was seen in a post on Instagram, with hundreds “liking” and commenting on the post, telling him to rest in peace.

The vile post read: “rip my boy sherif. my man has f***ing died in a house fire After he left the Hot water tap on and spent the last hours of his life suffering horribly.

"hope his family are ok after this shocking news, rip in peace my bro #blessupmyg."

The troll continued: "if we can all pay our upmost respects by going onto his account @sherif_lanre and commenting how sad we are. (everyone make sure to follow, like and tag your freinds for a gift card giveaway) #loveisland #dead #freeclout."

However, a spokesperson for sherif confirmed that the post was a hoax.

Sherif and Anna Vakili were coupled up during the first few weeks of the show, and a romance blossomed before he was kicked out following a joke fight with Molly-Mae Hague.

Revealing the reason for his shock exit, Sherif told The Sun: “I did kick Molly-Mae in the groin area but it was an accident and she 100 per cent was not injured afterwards.

“She flinched and bent over to protect herself. Then she stood up and seemed fine and we started laughing about it.

“I turned to Tommy Fury and said, ‘That was a c*** punt.’”

He added: “I have never used the word before and I realise how insulting it is to women.

“As someone raised by a strong and loving mother, I want to say that I would never intentionally offend women. I was completely wrong and I apologise.”
