Low number of World Cup 2018 tickets bought by England fans revealed

English fans have bought just over 32,000 tickets for the World Cup – putting them way down the list of best supported nations.

FIFA has confirmed they have so far sold 2.4 million tickets with 871,797 being bought in Russia by fans for the 64 game tournament in their own country.

Nearly 90,000 tickets have been bought by supporters from the United States which is the highest number of visiting fans despite their national team failing to qualify.

But at the start of this week, only 32,000 had been sold in England when generally they are one of the best supported countries.

England’s game with Belgium was over subscribed but the cost of travel, security and difficulties getting visas are thought to have put off fans making trips to see games in Russia.

Brazil, the favourites win the World Cup for a record sixth time in Russia, have sold 72,512 tickets while Colombia (65,234), Mexico (60,302), Argentina (54,031) and Peru (43,583) have all outsold England.
