Magician who wowed BGT judges got his big break thanks to superstar frontman
A magician who will wow Britain’s Got Talent judges tomorrow night has revealed he got his big break thanks to Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Maddox Dixon, 31, was playing keyboard for British band Foxes, who were supporting Coldplay on a US tour in 2016, when he was spotted by the Fix You singer.
The musician, from Hereford, was “just passing the time” backstage performing magic tricks when Chris offered him the chance of a lifetime.
He says: “[Chris] silenced the room and got them all to watch. It was one of the best I’ve ever done…ever! It was so surreal as I was stood there doing a trick whilst holding his hand.”

The Coldplay frontman was so impressed, he invited Maddox to open the next night’s show to an audience of 20,000 people.
“I think he saw how passionate I was about doing magic, even though I was playing music, and he just gave me a shot,” he says. “I got home afterwards and thought, ‘right this is what I want to do’”.
Maddox hopes Chris is watching him tomorrow night and wants to thank him for kick-starting his magic career.
“I don’t have Chris’s number, I wish I could call him and thank him. I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it wasn’t for him, I hope he is watching tomorrow.
“Magic was always something I’d loved doing but mainly to pass the time backstage on tour. Now I know it is my dream and I am going to follow it.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues tomorrow night, 8pm on ITV
