Meghan Markle may break from royal tradition with her wedding look
All eyes are on Meghan Markle today as she says I do to her very own prince.
While we wait with bated breath to see the dress she’s picked or if she’s opting for a barely there make-up look or a California girl glow, there’s been some speculation on whether she’ll break from tradition with her chosen bridal hairstyle.
It’s no secret that Meghan has subtly, and respectfully, snubbed some other royal rules – like when she wore a cross body bag instead of a traditional handbag on an outing in Edinburgh – so it would come as no surprise if the former Suits actress decided to stray from what other royals have done with their hair on their own wedding days.
In 2011, Kate wore her dark tresses in soft waves around her shoulders and finished the look with a Cartier Halo tiara loaned from Queen Elizabeth.
In 1981, Princess Diana chose to style her blonde mid-length hair down with subtle flicks and an 80s fringe, topped off with a statement Spencer tiara.
Back in 1947, Queen Elizabeth married Prince Phillip and wore her brunette lengths in structured pinned-back curls. She also finished the look with a sparkly tiara, passed down from Queen Mary.
So, if Meghan were to follow tradition then she’d go for for soft curls and a fancy, vintage tiara. But, this American-born bride isn’t exactly known for adhering to tradition. Instead of bouncy blow dries and structured updos, she often favours messy buns and textured beach girl waves.
It begs the question, will she stick to her own hair rules today and pin her hair back into her famous Markle messy bun, and give her wedding day look a very modern twist?
We’ll have to wait a few hours and see!
