The battle lines have grown deeper behind the scenes at the Miss America Organization.
Page Six reported over the weekend on the controversy over four board members leaving after just months on the job under new chairwoman Gretchen Carlson — who took over this year, and last month announced Miss America was dropping its swimsuit competition.
Now reps from 22 state pageants have signed a petition calling for the resignations of the remaining board, including Carlson.
But reports said 30 former Miss Americas then signed their own letter expressing full support for Carlson and the board. One insider pointed out to Page Six of the latest moves that it’s the state organizations that have more power — calling the former Miss Americas “a social club” and “not a stakeholder with anything at risk.”
