Missing Iowa College Student Mollie Tibbetts Reportedly Found Dead

Such awful, awful news to report this morning.

For the better part of almost two full months now, the nation has been captivated by the search for Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old college student who vanished while on a jog near her small-town Brooklyn, Iowa home in mid-July.

But on Tuesday, media reports are starting to come out that Tibbetts has been found, reportedly deceased, in a field in rural Poweshiek County, Iowa.

A police source confirmed to People that the missing young woman has allegedly been discovered not far from where she first vanished.

Law enforcement sources are still waiting confirmation that the body is, in fact, Tibbetts; furthermore, no other details have yet been released as to the condition or state of the body.

Investigators are set to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon that should shed more light on the situation.

Beyond that, there’s not much else to say other than it appears the frantic search for this University of Iowa student gone missing may now be over with the worst of all possible endings.

Ugh. Truly so, so sad.

R.I.P.
