Neil Young has confirmed Crazy Horse is working on a new album, the band’s first since 2012’s Psychedelic Pill.

Young confirmed the news on his Neil Young Archives website. In a response to a reader’s question asking about his future recording plans, Young replied, “Crazy Horse is about to enter the studio with 11 new ones.”

The singer further added that new songs are “going to be recorded starting this week. … The band is excited to make this new album and continue our story.”

Young added “We sincerely hope [fans] enjoy our new music when it is released this year, because we know we will enjoy making it.”

The current lineup of Crazy Horse includes Young backed by bassist Billy Talbot, drummer Ralph Molina and guitarist Nils Lofgren.

Next month, Neil Young is set to perform a series of solo shows before embarking on a run with Promise Of The Real. The tour will open on May 14 at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
