Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has been told to stop socialising as much – after being dobbed into his manager by the club doctor.
Alarm bells rang at the club when Dembele failed to turn up to a first-team training session on Thursday .
The 21-year-old finally contacted the club at 11am – half an hour after the session had begun – to inform them he would not be attending training.
Dembele’s reason for his absence was that he was ill after being struck down with a bout of Gastroenteritis.
Barcelona sent a club doctor round to Dembele’s house to check on their £100 million asset, but were shocked by his feedback.
Spanish publication Sport report that when arriving at Dembele’s house, the doctor was greeted at the door not by the Frenchman, but by one of his friends.
Upon entering the property, the doctor was then surprised to find several young people sleeping there, with the time already around midday.
After checking over Dembele for his supposed stomach problems, the doctor found nothing unusual in the players health.
Once informed of the situation, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde decided to take action against Dembele, and has imposed strict rules on the youngster.
Valverde has stated to Dembele and his agents that he needs to focus more on his professionalism and career at Barcelona, and reduce the amount of socialising he is doing.
This includes the number of hours he spends playing against his friends on the Playstation.
Dembeles absence from training caused concern and unrest amongst Barcelona staff, with the forward reportedly uncontactable for an hour and a half that morning.
He also missed training on Friday with question marks remaining over his attitude.
It is alleged that the club have questioned Dembele’s diet, and are also said to be unimpressed that the star has given up his Spanish lessons.
Club captain Lionel Messi and fellow striker Luis Suarez are said to have recently persuaded Valverde to pick Rafinha over Dembele in the starting line-up, as he becomes more isolated from his teammates.
The news may alert Arsenal, who have shown previous interest in Dembele, with Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat a big supporter of the player after taking him to Borussia Dortmund.
