Paul Pogba acknowledged photographers as he left Manchester United’s training base following a frosty exchange with Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils midfielder was caught on camera giving a high-five to a member of the backroom staff at Carrington on Wednesday, before Mourinho appeared to say something to him.
The France international gave his boss a steely stare in response before they walked together for a moment, with more words and scowls being exchanged.
In extended footage, which lasts over two minutes, Pogba appeared to vociferously put forward his case – in whatever they were discussing – before they both walked away.
Jose vs Pogba – the rift escalates
The World Cup winner played no part in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup defeat by Derby on Tuesday, as the Red Devils were knocked out the competition on penalties by their Championship opposition.
Pogba watched the action from the stands at Old Trafford, but was a hot topic of discussion in Mourinho’s post-match interview on Sky Sports, in which the Portuguese revealed he’d stripped him of his vice-captaincy duties.
The Red Devils boss said: "The only truth is that I made the decision of Paul not to be the second captain anymore. But no fall-out. No problems at all.
"The same person that decides Paul is not second captain anymore was exactly the same person that decides that Paul was the second captain, myself.
"I am the manager, I can make these decisions, no fall-out at all, no problems at all, just one decision that I don’t have to explain."
Pogba trained alongside his United team-mates on Wednesday, before he then left the Carrington training camp in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce.
