Rihanna reportedly rejected an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday to show solidarity with embattled former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and has revealed she did not even watch the big game.
While the game was in action, RiRi was on a flight. Overhearing someone behind her asking a flight attendant how they could watch the game, the singer recorded it on video.
She posted a series of selfie videos on Instagram, calling the man wanting to watch the game a “weirdo.”
Rihanna later posted a hand-drawn picture of Kaepernick with the message, “For those of you who thought I was watching the Super Bowl…We beefin.”
Kaepernick created controversy in 2016 after he started kneeling during the national anthem in protest against racial inequality in the U.S.
Several other A-list artists, including Adele, JAY-Z, and Cardi B, also reportedly turned down invitations to perform at the high profile event.
