Two months after shocking fans with a string of racist tweets, Roseanne Barr was given the opportunity to apologise live on air to Valerie Jarrett – after comparing her to an ape.
But Roseanne’s latest attempt to say sorry during an appearance on Fox News baffled viewers as she bizarrely critiqued Jarrett’s haircut.
As a guest on the Sean Hannity show, Roseanne was asked to look down the camera lens and deliver a message to Jarrett.
Obliging, Roseanne said: "If she’s watching, I’m so sorry that you thought I was racist.
"I’m sorry if you thought my tweet was racist because it wasn’t. It was political."
She continued: "I’m sorry for the misunderstanding caused from my ill-worded tweet and I’m sorry that you feel harmed and hurt.
"I never meant that and for that I apologise."
Roseanne then said it was never her intention to hurt anybody or ‘say anything negative about an entire race of people.’
Host Hannity then began to ask the actress a further question when she interrupted him with a bizarre claim about Jarrett’s hair.
"Of course I’d tell her she needs to get a hair cut. I mean seriously, she needs to get a new haircut."
The actress is still reeling from the controversy she sparked after comparing former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to a character from Planet of the Apes.
"There’s a way to apologize. This isn’t it," said one.
"Nope! Try again! Or don’t … it’s meaningless at this point," commented another.
"She’s on major damage control…but she’s making it worse," added a third.
