Ruth Langsford, 61, was inundated with questions on Sunday, after she shared a sweet video of her playing a very “intense” game Scrabble with her 88-year-old mum Joan. And while her followers were glad to see the pair spending some quality time together, there was something a little more pressing on their minds.
Another Scrabble battle and it’s so tense we’ve had to open the Christmas chocolates!!
Taking to Instagram, Ruth chuckled as she shared: “Another Scrabble battle and it’s so tense we’ve had to open the Christmas chocolates!!”
In the video, she filmed the letter board while Joan looked rather perplexed as she scratched her head.
But as Ruth moved the camera across the table, she showed off her extra-large tin of Quality Street chocolates.
The infamous tin of treats have long been a festive favourite and with the holiday season almost upon us, many took the chance to find out where they could get their hands on the XL Christmas staple.

One penned in the comments section: “Wow… where did you get that size tin from? Definitely not the supermarket size!”
Another asked: “@ruthlangsford we had those size tins when I was growing up in Belfast.. Where did you get that one?”
“Where did you get that big tin from Ruth, that size is from the 70s!” a third pointed out.
“That’s not the average size tin is it,” a fourth wondered.
“Where on earth did you manage to get that from!” a fifth posed the question.
Luckily someone else came to the rescue, revealing: “Just checked Wilko do a 2kg tin for £16 for anyone interested.”
Others also sent their love to Joan, commenting on how “great” she looks after she suffered a nasty fall back in September.
At the time, Ruth was flooded with messages of support from her celebrity friends and followers after announcing the upsetting news.
She took to Instagram to share that her mother wouldn’t be joining her and husband Eamonn Holmes, at their Surrey home this weekend because she had fallen over.
The Loose Women presenter penned an emotional message to fans beneath a heartwarming video of Joan with the family’s beloved dog, Maggie.
“Sadly no Mum for Sunday lunch today… she’s had a fall. Nothing broken thank goodness but quite battered and bruised poor love,” Ruth shared.
Reassuring fans that her mum was in good spirits despite her accident, she wrote: “She needs a walking frame to get around at the moment and is still in some pain but typical Mum…stoic and cheerful as ever. Maggie giving her some healing love.”
Fans rushed to the comments to flood Ruth with support following her sad news.
The presenter often spends her Sunday cooking with her mum and spending quality time with her at home, delighting fans with touching videos of their incredibly close bond.
Gogglebox star Izzi Warner penned: “Aww bless, hope she’s back to herself soon.”
Another fan sent their love: “Big cuddle for your lovely mum, hope she gets well soon.”
A third wrote: “Aah. Hope she’s ok. Will miss her sherry dance this week.”
